Color Challenge Week #5

The first thing that came to mind for this week's color challenge was YIKES! Then as I wrapped my head around this combo – I fell in love with it! I wanted to make a card that focused on each color  and I was very happy with the results!

Here is week #5's inspiration:

The Stampin' Up! colors identified were:

  • Tangerine Tango
  • Crushed Curry
  • Smokey Slate
  • Basic Black
  • Whisper White

Here is my submission:

Hero

This one focused on the black. I used a piece of scrap paper for the polka dots and stamped the Basic Grey Ink on Basic Grey Cardstock for the bottom half.

I edged the tan cardstock with a scissor's edge to rough it up some.

I popped up the sentiment with Dimensionals and adhered it to the ribbon & orange cardstock with glue dots as well so the Dimensional would adhere to the ribbon. I fussy cut the birthday focal piece and the orange banner & roughed it with scissors as well.

Supplies:

  • Tangerine Tango Cardstock
  • Crushed Curry Ink
  • Basic Grey Ink & Cardstock
  • Basic Black Cardstock
  • Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • My Hero Stamp Set
  • Best Badge Punch
  • 5/8" Burlap Ribbon
  • Pop Dots / Dimensionals / Glue Dots

Happy Birthday and Many More

I saw something similar to this on Pinterest & thought it would be a good use of the overall color wackiness on the pillow – so I created the background with a stamp.

For the birthday focus, I stamped the stamped twice – once with orange and them again with black & cut out the black "birthday" and layered it over the orange "happy…and many more". I then popped the whole thing up with Dimensionals.

I added a few rhinestones for a little bling on the Basic Gray border. I also added Wink of Stella to the black die cuts leaves but you cannot see it in the picture.

Supplies:

  • Tangerine Tango Ink
  • Crushed Curry Ink & Cardstock
  • Smokey Slate Ink
  • Basic Gray Cardstock
  • Basic Black Cardstock
  • Baked Brown Sugar Ink
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Memento Black Ink
  • Work of Art Stamp Set
  • Birthday Stamp (CTMH)
  • Rose Garden Thinlits
  • Rhinestones
  • Pop Dots / Dimensionals

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

I love this little VW Bus & have been waiting to find a perfect use for it – focus on Orange allowed for the perfect match! I pawed through all of my Washi tape to find the right color combos that would work with the inspiration, so here ya go!

Supplies:

  • Tangerine Tango Ink
  • Smokey Slate Ink
  • Basic Gray Cardstock
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Washi Tape Assorted
  • Lift Me Up Stamp Set
  • VW Bus (CTMH)
  • Scrap of Silver Grey Ribbon
  • Pop Dots / Dimensionals / Glue Dots

Happy Retirement

So who doesn't have a million scraps of white paper laying around – I decided I wanted to try to weave some together to see what happened. This card focuses on the Greys. If I did this card over again – I would make it a Confirmation or bereavement card maybe – the weave ended up looking like little crosses to me.

I edged the Basic Gray Cardstock with a scissor's edge to give some texture to the stark background.

The Happy retirement sentiment is popped up as well as some of the flowers. I also added rhinestones to the flower centers.

Supplies:

  • Tangerine Tango Ink
  • Smokey Slate Ink
  • Basic Gray Cardstock
  • Crushed Curry Ink
  • Memento Black Ink
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set
  • Petite Petals Stamp Set
  • Petite Petals Punch
  • Scrap of Silver Ribbon
  • Pop Dots / Dimensionals / Glue Dots
