Digital Retreat May #4 - Incredible Like You

After the Sea of Textures card - I was wiped! So we wrapped up the mini-retreat and I had to put the other side of my brain to work for a while. So after a few hours of chores, I circled back - time to play catch up - I missed one of the color challenges / Colour Combo Blog Hop that Tracy participated in, so here us my take on Balmy Blue, Mango Melody and Blackberry Bliss.

What is funny about this card - is I whipped it together in about 15 minutes (the design) using the Incredible Like You stamp set. Its amazing what can happen when you clear your head!

Digital Retreat May #3 - Painted Harvest

This card's inspiration was drawn from a color combination I found appealing of Pear Pizzazz, Soft Seafoam, Pineapple Punch and Whisper White, a very soft combination - as you can see from the picture - this is where the wheels fell off... First the stamp set we chose was again, a very little used set for both of us called Painted Harvest. Since it had the sunflower effect, Tracy suggested we use brown for the center & so we added Early Espresso.

We had decided to case another card and go simple since we struggled with the Sea of Texture card so much. I wanted to use a technique I had never done before which was to color Shimmer Texture paste and apply it with the brick stencil.

Digital Retreat May #2 - Sea of Texture

Tracy had the Facebook Inkspiration color challenge due so we decided to go for it with Berry Burst, Garden Green, Blackberry Bliss and Melon Mambo. These colors typically lend themselves to flowers - so we decided to challenge ourselves & NOT do flowers. Instead we chose a set we both had not used since last March when we crafted for the last time at my old house in Washington, Sea of Texture.

We both really struggled with this set and took mots of the time we had that day in the creation process. Tracy was trying to replicate the tunnel card she created last time without going back and revisiting the original. I actually had headed down an alternate path but then at the last minute decided to ditch that one and start over! The top one is the final result while the bottom one is the one I gave up on. Looking back, the one I ditched was not sooo bad. A sentiment & ribbon - may be able to save it (If I hadn't stolen a bunch of the pieces for the top card)!

UPDATE! I was chosen as a Top 5 selection for the Colour INKspiration Challenges Facebook group! Alas, I did not win - but how exciting to get chosen as a first time entry to be a Top 5 card!

Digital Retreat May #1 - Tropical Chic - #simplestamping

My friend Tracy and I have the opportunity to create together digitally on Saturday! We started with a color combination challenge of Gray Granite, Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight. Tracy does a ton of color challenges & blog hops, so this inspiration came from one of those she was preparing for.

The tricky part this month is trying to find a set that will be in the 2019-2020 catalog that neither of us have purchased from yet -so it has to be a carry over set - there were not many to choose from but we both had Tropical Chic & neither of us have used it very much. See Tracy's version below, I love what she did with the frmae & the corrugated paper behind it! Since it was first in the day - I considered this my warm up card - #simplestamping!

I did have to color the baker's twine  and also the rhinestones with a Blends marker to get a little more yellow on the card.

Mother's Day Teapots

For Mother's Day this year I created a few cards. The first one is from a super cute set called A Mother's Flair which had a really cute shoe, hat, purse and teapot. The second one is from Tea Together & the third is made with a Gorjuss girl.

~Enjoy!

I just love this little teapot from A Mother's Flair stamp set. I first taped off a section of white cardstock with removable tape & then went to town with a sponge and Berry Burst for the pink center strip to give it a mottled background. I then stamped the teapot in Memento Black and colored in the flower and leaves with Berry Burst & Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Markers. I then laid down a coating of Glossy Accents to give it some dimension. The frame is cut with a really old frame, it may have been QuicKutz. Then I added a strip of white paper embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder. The background paper is from the Petal Passion DSP paper pack. Topping it all off is some Berry Burst Seam Binding Ribbon. The envelope is stamped with Beautiful Bouquet.

This next card came out of a color challenge. I was done with the challenge but wanted to explore the colors a little more, so I came up with this one. The colors were Pool Party, Shaded Spruce and Flirty Flamingo. I knew I wanted to use the cute Teapot from Tea Together Stamps & Tea Time Dies and I thought the Pool Party would be sort of a patina look for it. I tried several versions of the teapot, but finally ended up on this version. The background paper is created with the Hello Cupcake Stamp Set. Once again, I added some Crumb Cake sponging to the background to antique the card a little more and of course a doily! The flowers are from the Paper Studio. Finishing it off are some flowers from my stash & a Braided Linen Trim bow. All of the Mothers out there loved the card!

This last card was made only for my mom. I had intended to make several but just ran out of time & the others were way easier to make duplicates. I love the Gorjuss girl line, they are all so super sweet. Unfortunately when I got this die, the Gorjuss line did not make the dies, only the stamps. The dress parts & background papers are from Die Cuts With A View and Stampin' Up! Soft Suede and Early Espresso. The flourish is from Timeless Textures. The Doily and Gold Glimmer Paper add a bit if antique & glitz! The leaves are cut from the Flourish Thinlits set and the flowers are from the Paper Studio.
