NC Demos Blog Hop June 2020

Welcome to the NC Demos Blog Hop for June 2020!

For this months blog hop the theme is Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue.

~Enjoy!

I had a digital craft day with my sister Jane who lives in Florida & my best crafting buddy Tracy who lives in Washington. Since I live in North Carolina I could not exactly borrow from them. We decided to try the Braided Fold Card inspired by barbstamps.com, a card Maggie Trimble sent me as well as an item from Pinterest, so I think this qualifies me to check the box for Something Borrowed!

For something new, I used the new In-Color of Magenta Madness even though it really is indistinguishable from the Blackberry Bliss I used to sponge the background with some Mango Melody and Pretty Peacock. The Braid Fold is also new to me. We always try to do new techniques when we get together to keep it fun. Something New...Check!

For Something Old, I used the Bokeh technique which my sister has never done on top of my sponged background as well as the Christmas Layers Dies cut with Gold Foil Paper and Gold 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas. Three out of four... on to Something Blue!

For something blue, I had the card all set up to use the Pretty Peacock as the card base but at the last minute I switched it out for a Blackberry Bliss one, so the sponged background will have to count for my something blue.

This card is spectacular in person!

Before you go, here is a bonus card with my "discarded" Pretty Peacock base from above! This uses a piece of the retired Perennial Essence DSP, that I loved but never got around to using. It is layered with a sentiment heat embossed with Itty Bitty Birthdays and the butterflies are from the Butterfly Beauties Dies, cut with Gold Glimmer Paper and Vellum. The envelope is stamped with the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set. Thanks for stopping by!

Birch Background meets Seasonal Layers Dies

Here is another card using the Birch Background Stamp Set. I made this card as part of a Paper Pumpkin in some other colors & so fully loved it, I decided to replicate for this display board / challenge.

~Enjoy!

The Daffodil Delight background is embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder & mounted on Pumpkin Pie. The White interior is stamped with Soft Suede using the Birch Background Stamp. The circles are cut from the Layering Circles Dies set. The Flowers are dies cut from the Seasonal Layers Dies and Granny Apple Green. The sentiment is from Beauty Abounds stamp Set and the envelope is decorated with flowers from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. The whole thing is topped with the 1/4" Copper Trim and some rhinestones colored with the Bronze Stampin Blends Marker gives a little sparkle!

#simplestamping with Beauty Abounds Color Challenge Fall

For the next project Tracy & had chosen the color combo of Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie for a fall theme using the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set.

~Enjoy!

We did have a small spark of inspiration from a Pinterest pin, but, I really just went where the stamp set sent me. I was not overly excited about how my large circles were stamping with such a distinct outline and no center, but if you do not expect the stamp to stamp as pictured on the box, it gives it a really cool effect. I used the stamp from this month's Paper Pumpkin The Gift of Fall.

For this second one I just decided to keep it simple, using the same products as above and just a clean stripe across the card. I really like how this came out and would be great for a #simplestamping class.

The this card, I had to go for & really dress it up. This takes the original card, turns it sideways and add lots of layers! I stamped the flourish in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry for the yellow stripe and backed it with Gold Glimmer paper. The leaves are cut from the retired Bird Builder Punch. The tag is cut from the retired Decorative Label Punch and the whole thing is topped off with the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and a multi loop bow made with the Linen Thread. This works much better as a background over a focal #simplestamping project.

The last card, I used the same products as above & trimmed down the second #simplestamping card to a focal point. I stamped the flourish in Cajun Craze on Cajun Craze for the banner & gave it a fishtail cut. The stripe underneath is stamped with the 3 colors and the Birch Background Stamp. The splats are stamped in Pumpkin Pie on Pumpkin Pie and the whole thing is topped with Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and Whisper White Baker's Twine. Make sure you go see what Tracy did with her cards!!!

Very Versailles in Black & Vanilla

Tracy & I had a surprise play date today, two in one moth was quite the surprise!

~Enjoy!

We have been dying to use the Very Versailles in an all Basic Black and Very Vanilla them like this one we found on Pinterest from Blue Rose Paper Treasures! I had just ordered the Delicate Lace Dies and did not have them to finish this card during our play date so I started it & finished it once I got the dies. I had to stamp off the Memento Black to get the softer grey for the background. I used some retired lace trim and the butterflies are a combination of retired Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set and Butterfly Beauties Die Set. Sentiment is from Beautiful Bouquet and cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The tiny butterfly is from Beauty Abounds.

This one uses all the same items as above but uses the new Scalloped Lace Trim. But check out what tracy did for my Birthday card!
