See a Silhouette DSP Hexagons

A bonus Tracy day today, we started off with the Tracy See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper since we are trying our best to make sure to use the truckload that we bought!

~Enjoy!

We have been making an attempt to CASE the catalog for ideas, so we found this card on page 132 of the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. I was not happy with the irregular cuts of the hexagons, so I decided to go grab my retired Hexagon Punch and cute the hexagons out of the paper & then I could create a uniform mat with white cardstock. The problem with this was that the punch was slightly bigger than the paper I had already cut out & white borders off, but as the pieces were lying on the table I noticed that some of them were upside down & I could not tell the difference between the trimmed white one & the back, so I grabbed some fresh sheets & cut a bunch of random ones. Trying to conserve some of the paper & not just go for the middle of a 12x12 piece of paper, I found it hard to find the deep green options, so this one turned out with the pinks instead, hence the change in background color to Crushed Curry.

The background is embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder & the edges scruffed & sponged with Soft Suede. I layered a piece of Vellum over the hexagon border to give a little more definition the the flower sprig cut with White Glimmer Paper and the Well Written Dies. The Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon was colored with a Crumb Cake Blends Marker to soften the bright marigold. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso using the Waterfront Stamp Set and punched out with the retired Tiny Tags Punch (I love this punch it is soooo cute!). The envelope is stamped with Crushed Curry & the For All Things Stamp Set.

#simplestamping with Soft Spring

This month's Stampin' Up #simplestamping challenge is Birthdays! I always send out a million birthday cards every month, so I am always looking to make more birthday cards! Here is a #simplestamping card I made for the challenge as well as the #casualstamper and #avidstamper versions.

~Enjoy!

When I was stamping the envelopes for another card I made, I noticed how pretty it was just by itself and this card was born! I knew I just wanted a few simple elements so I decided to cut down the card front to a 3 x 4.25 Whisper White piece. Then I stamped The Very Versailles stamp set's script stamp in Sahara Sand. Layered on top of that is the Soft Spring branch in Mossy Meadow and the leaves in Pear Pizzazz stamped off. I added a little more to it by adding the dots from Waterfront in Mint Macaron. The sentiment comes from the Seaside Notions stamp set and is stamped with Pear Pizzazz.

The #casualtstamper may like just a little more, so for this card I added border layer of Mossy Meadow and a strip of Braided Linen Thread and a bow.

This card actually settled somewhere just shy of the #avidstamper I think. I was going to add some die cuts to the bottom left corner to give it more dimension, but I was really liking the simplicity of this card. I added a few champagne sequins from my stash and added a few more stamps to the bottom base layer.

Stampin' Up! products used:
  • Very Versailles Stamp Set
  • Soft Spring Stamp Set
  • Seaside Notions Stamp Set
  • Waterfront Stamp Set
  • Braided Linen Trim

#simplestamping with Seaside Notions

This month's Stampin' Up #simplestamping challenge is Birthdays! I always always needing birthday cards since I send out a LOT of birthday cards every month! Here is a #simplestampnig card I made for the challenge as well as the #casualstamper and #avidstamper versions.

~Enjoy!

I just love, love, love this little seahorse from the Seaside Notions Stamp Set, he is so super cute!!!! I knew he would make a really cute #simplestamping card. The card front is cut down to a 3 x 4.25 Whisper White piece. The seahorse is stamped in Night of Navy and is surrounded with a sea of seaweed from Sea of Textures and Balmy Blue, Seaside Spray and Soft Suede. The sentiment is stamped with Seaside Notions and Balmy Blue and the dots at the top are from Waterfront stamped in Seaside Spray. Isn't he sweet!

For the #casualtstamper I added a background strip of Soft Suede and a bow made from Night of Navy / Sahara Sand Baker's Twine.

I had all intentions of adding a ton of seaweed dies cuts from the Smooth Sailing Dies set, but once I added some Copper Thread and Copper Sequins and grabbed the Copper Glimmer Paper from Joyous Noel, it just did not look right with the Soft Suede strip stamped with the water lines from Lilypad Lake. So I just added some corner accents with the Glimmer Paper and filled in the void on the white background with some dots from Waterfront stamped in Seaside Spray.

On My Mind Paper Pumpkin Alternative Meets Geared Up Garage

I had a really hard time using one of the Bendell stripes from the envelopes for alternatives for the July 2019 On My Mind Paper Pumpkin, but I like the way this one turned out.

~Enjoy!

For the background, I layered a piece of DSP from the envelope liner and added a bunch of grunge elements. I roughed up the edge with scissors, I sponged the top with Soft Suede and added splatters using the Waterfront Stamp Set and Soft Suede. The nuts from the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set as well as the title are stamped with Soft Suede on Very Vanilla cardstock and the Kraft that came with the kit and layered on Old Olive. The gears are cut from Silver Foil, Soft Sueded and Crumb Cake using gear dies from my stash, but you could use the Garage Gears Dies. The whole thing is topped off with a double bow made from Linen Thread.

On My Mind Paper Pumpkin Alternative Meets Very Versailles

The medallions from the July 2019 On My Mind Paper Pumpkin really had a regal feel to me as well as the Very Versailles Stamp Set, so I decided the 2 should meet!

~Enjoy!

Once again I used this layout for some inspiration. The Early Espresso background is embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder. The medallions were stamped with Soft Suede on Crumb Cake. The focal element used the Very Versailles Stamp Set words and leaves stamped in Soft Suede on the Kraft card base included in the kit. The dies are cut from Crumb Cake & Gold Glimmer Paper cut with the Flourish Dies and sponged with Soft Suede. The sentiment is stamped with Pretty Peacock and Soft Suede using Very Versailles Stamp Set and run though my embossing machine with the Subtle Embossing Folder. A little strip of DSP from the envelope liner adds the right balance. The envelope had a little splatter made with Pretty Peacock and the Waterfront Stamp Set.

Paper Pumpkin A Little Smile Alternative Swish Technique

This is a really fast little card made with the A Little Smile Paper Pumpkin kit from June 2019 using the swish technique.

~Enjoy!

To make the background, I dragged Mint Macaron, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake ink pads across a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Hold the ink pad so that only the top edge hits the paper then quickly drag the pad across the paper back & forth in a diagonal. The trick here is not to press too hard, take a running start at your paper and do it really fast. I hand cut the banner from one of the envelope fronts. The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede and a stamp from my stash. I added some sequins from the Heirloom Textures Sequins pack and topped the whole thing off with a bow made from Old Olive / Whisper White Thick Baker's Twine. The envelop is decorated with the Waterfront Stamp Set.

Paper Pumpkin A Little Smile Alternative Sailboats

Whatever do you do with all of the leftovers from the The A Little Smile Paper Pumpkin kit from June 2019? Make sailboats!

~Enjoy!

I had a ton of little leftover bits after using the back of the envelope flap for my sentiments and once I started playing with the shapes, some sailboats appeared, perfect fit for the theme of this kit! The background is Coastal Cabana embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. The "sea" is cut from one of the card fronts provided wit the kit layered over a piece of Whisper White. The boat hulls are hand cut from Old Olive & Coastal Cabana. The Sentiment is stamped with Old Olive and a stamp from my stash on a envelope flap cut down. I then added a bow made from the Silver & Whisper White Baker's Twine. The envelope is decorated with the Waterfront Stamp Set. So cute!

~Enjoy!

The background was embossed Crumb Cake and the Subtle Embossing Folder. The focal uses a whole card from the kit & the fold is cleverly disguised behind the Linen Thread. I stamped my favorite birthday stamp from my stash in Old Olive. The envelope is decorated with the Waterfront Stamp Set.

Paper Pumpkin A Little Smile Alternative Beach

The A Little Smile Paper Pumpkin kit from June 2019 had so many great options for alternatives, the die cuts were really inspiring!

~Enjoy!

The background was embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder and Whisper White and layered on a card base of Whisper White. I cut apart 2 of the Old Olive Envelopes and placed them side by side to make use of the cute "wood-grain" background. I cut a wavy piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to mimic a sand dune and sponged it lightly by pouncing a sponge on the cardstock with some Soft Suede to give a sandy effect. I did the same thing for the sentiment only with Old Olive. The sentiment is stamped with Soft Suede and a stamp from my stash. The whole thing is topped off with a double bow made from Linen Thread from the kit. The envelope is decorated with the Waterfront Stamp Set.

The A Little Smile Paper Pumpkin kit from June 2019 was really cute. I just happened to have a last minute cruise set up for December, so these little rays of sunshine worked out well for thank you cards for the staff!

~Enjoy!

Timeless Textures meets A Million & One

Crafting with Tracy days are always one of my favorite days! Here are the creations we made & the inspiration behind them!

~Enjoy!

The first card of the day was a color challenge with Pretty Peacock, Sahara Sand and Terracotta Tile and we also decided also on a sketch challenge from Paper Craft Crew.

We did not pick a stamp set for this challenge, so I chose Timeless Textures for the flourish, one of my all time favorites, and the little dots are from Waterfront. The sentiment is from the Million & One set. The Pretty Peacock oval cut from Layering Ovals Dies is embossing using the Tin Tile 3D Embossing Folder. Most of the edges are roughed up with my scissor edge and sponged with Sahara Sand. I added some rhinestones colored with Crumb Cake Blends Markers and the whole thing is tied up with a little Linen Thread and a bow. Don't forget to go check out Tracy's card at Stuff-n-Thingz!

Digital Retreat March #1

While I was at my most recent retreat, I connected digitally with my friend Tracy who travels full time and had a little mini retreat - we worked on several projects and spent several hours with each on the the phone. Tracy usually has projects prepared for us to attack & for this one she found not only a color challenge but a simple stamping challenge for us, here is the inspiration! Since I too was traveling for this retreat and only had a few items available to me borrowed from my friend Shannon, it turned into an additional challenge since these cards are only made with basic shapes. Luckily, one of the sets I borrowed from Shannon was the December 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit which was all shapes!

The colors came from the Colour Combo blog hop using: Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron and Blushing Bride. The most challenging things was when I got home I had to find stam septs that coordinated with the borrowed sets, to finish off the envelopes!

~Enjoy!

Here are Tracy's completed cards, she was using the Waterfront stamp set. Don't forget to go check out Tracy's blog!!
