NC Demos Blog Hop March 2020 Grapefruit Grove

This is the third item I created for the NC Demos Blog Hop for March 2020 using the retiring In-Color of Grapefruit Grove. Tracy & I had a virtual play date since she is in Washington state & I am in North Carolina, here is her card.

~Enjoy!

I CASEd another card I had made recently for this one at the time not knowing that I could use silver. The background paper and strip on the left is from Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. As I am posting this & reviewing the colors in the suite, I not surprised at why my card colors do not look correct, it is because the colors in the suite are Calypso Coral & Petal Pink! oh well, moving forward....

The border dies are half of the teardrop dies from the Lily Pad Dies cut with Whisper White. They are sitting under a border of Grapefruit Grove embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. The Flourish & springs are cut with the Flourish Dies. The sentiment is stamped with Grapefruit Grove using the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set. The bird is fussy cut from the Bird Ballad DSP & the whole thing is topped off with a double bow made from the Whisper White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. See all of the cards here!

Now go check out these other amazing projects!!

Here is the collection and you can get the details for each card below!

Noble Peacock Foil Pretty Peacock Christmas

Here is the last in the trio of Noble Peacock Foil Sheet cards. This one uses this card as #pinspiration, really it was just using the Scripty 3D and orientation and the rest came from the Noble Peacock Foil Old Olive Christmas card.

~Enjoy!

The background uses the Pretty Peacock from the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. The border is cut from Whisper White and one of the Delicate Lace Dies. The sentiment is stamped with Pretty Peacock and a stamp from the Itty Bitty Stamp Set. For the ribbon, I  colored the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon with a Pretty Peacock Blends Marker, I love how the sparkle shows though after coloring it! The envelope is stamped with one of my favorite holiday borders from the Dashing Deer Stamp Set and Pretty Peacock, so elegant!

I decided to do all 3 card focals the same since I loved the Old Olive version so much. Tracy went with snowflakes for her cards, make sure to check it out! I cut Pretty Peacock with the Leaf Punch and topped that off with Ice Stampin' Glitter for extra holiday sparkle! The flower is cut from the large & small flowers from the Flourish Dies and White Glimmer Paper. More leaves were cut from Whisper White and Pool Party and Bouquet Bunch Dies.

Noble Peacock Foil Blueberry Bushel Christmas

Here is the second in the trio of Noble Peacock Foil Sheet cards. This was was also CASE-d from Pinterest.

~Enjoy!

The background uses the Blueberry Bushel from the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets embossed with the Quilted Embossing Folder. The border is cut from Whisper White and one of the Delicate Lace Dies. The sentiment is stamped with Blueberry Bushel and a stamp from my stash. I roughed up the edges a little to give it a little more interest since it was hanging out all by itself away from the focal. The Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon is so pretty with Blueberry Bushel and Whisper White. The envelope is stamped with one of my favorite holiday borders from the Dashing Deer Stamp Set and Blueberry Bushel, so elegant!

I decided to do all 3 card focals the same since I loved the Old Olive version so much. Tracy went with snowflakes for her cards, check it out! I cut some Night of Navy with the Leaf Punch and topped that off with Ice Stampin' Glitter for extra holiday sparkle! Noble Peacock Foil Old Olive Christmas

For the last "card" of the day, Tracy & I picked 2 cards made with the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets to CASE and a third to convert so that we could
1) Use more DSP since we bought so much
2) Use one of each of the colors.
3) Use one of each of the Delicate Lace Dies
These cards are sooo pretty in person!

~Enjoy!

The background uses the Old Olive from the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder. The sentiment cut from Whisper White and one of the Delicate Lace Dies and then stamped with Granny Apple Green and the Making Christmas Bright Stamp Set (I love the fonts in this sentiment). For the ribbon, I  colored the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon with a Pear Pizzazz Blends Marker, I love how the sparkle shows though after coloring it! The envelope is stamped with one of my favorite holiday borders from the Dashing Deer Stamp Set, so elegant!

For the accent pieces, even though it is for Christmas, I decided to stay with floral since I wanted the depth and colors. Tracy went with snowflakes for her cards. I cut some Pear Pizzazz with the Leaf Punch and topped that off with Ice Stampin' Glitter for extra holiday sparkle! The flower is cut from the large & small flowers from the Flourish Dies and White Glimmer Paper. More leaves were cut from Whisper White and Soft Sea Foam and Bouquet Bunch Dies.

Bird Ballad meets Sketch Challenge

Tracy had a sketch challenge to submit, and since we both had recently bought a ton of DSP we decided to focus on using some of it up! The rules were at least 3 to 4 pieces of DSP and the sketch!

~Enjoy!

The background and 2 strips of paper are cut from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper as well as the little bird. The background, strips and sentiment are all roughed up with a scissor edge & inked in Calypso Coral. The horizontal strip is embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder and sponged over the top with more Calypso Coral. The sentiment is from the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set. The white & silver sprigs are done with the Flourish Dies and topping off the whole thing is a bow made with Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon. This ended up being my favorite card of the day, even though I am not a huge fan of Calypso Coral. Here was the #pinspiration!

CASE-ing Wonderful Moments

Another craft day with my friend Tracy, today we decided to CASE the catalog image on page 15 of the 2019-2020 Annual Stampin' Up! catalog!

~Enjoy!

Since neither one of us had a light wood background (I later discovered the paper on the original is from Come Sail Away DSP - which we both DID have) she chose the paper from Pressed Petals & I grabbed the envelope liner for the October 2019 Winter Woods Paper Pumpkin. The background is loads of technique. First I added additional Early Espresso ink randomly to give t just a little more depth. Then I gave the backside a little spritz of water & very carefully scrunched up the paper. I let that dry for a minute before cutting it into 6 equally sized planks. I then adhered those to white cardstock to give it some weight & the scruffed up the edges with my scissors. These are all layered a little wonky on a background of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper & Early Espresso.

The sentiment is a little more work, after stamping with Pear Pizzazz and the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set and a Happy Birthday from my stash, I roughed up the edges again on this piece, then I pressed Crumb Cake lid into its own ink pad, gathered up the ink with an Aqua Painter & using the lid, flicked the background with some soft dots of color. One more thing of special not, I colored the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon with a Cherry Cobbler Blends Maker to get the Rich Razzleberry ribbon with sparkle, so pretty!

Gift of Fall Paper Pumpkin Banner

Here is another alternative for the September 2019 Paper Pumpkin: Gift of Fall using the envelope flaps as background paper.

~Enjoy!

I layered 3 envelope flaps on Whisper White & used that as the background for this card. I then layered that over a Garden Green strip and Whisper White card base. The banner is made from an envelope & embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. The circle was embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder & then lightly sanded to have the white core show through.  The additional little sprigs are cut from the Flourish Dies. The sentiment is stamped with Soft Suede and then roughed up with a scissor edge to add a little texture.

The ribbon is colored with Crumb Cake Blends Marker which dulled the bright yellow ribbon down to a more suitable color and I added a little Gold Glimmer Paper and a few gold sequins to add a little bling.

Digital Retreat August #4 - Very Versailles - #simplestamping

I am not quite sure what exactly happened with the third card of the Very Versailles / #simplestamping project, or should I say the third and fourth cards. This time we worked on the leaves going across. Maybe it was because we did not have an inspiration for this one, we were just winging it, but I did not like my first attempt at #simplestamping so I made a quick second version which I liked much better. Tracy actually went through 4 versions!

~Enjoy!

This time we used Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake and Black on Very Vanilla. Here is attempt number one for me. It did not look too bad until I dropped the lid of my Memento Black onto the left edge of the card, so an addition of the baroque stamp came in to play & that is when things really fell off the rails. I added an additional baroque frame to the top left to balance the imagery and then wondered what it would look like to frame the sentiment, well, here is what that looks like.

So I started over again with a little less going on in the bottom right corner and it was feeling better balanced for me. Check out how Tracy's #simplestamping version!

I decided to tackle the horrible version first and threw caution to the wind and just started piling stuff on without a second thought. It was already ruined, how could it get any worse, right? I started off by grunging it up by roughing up the edges with a scissor edge and adding sponged Crumb Cake around the edges. I embossed a piece of vellum with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and added a little Crumb Cake to it too.

I had some Glimmer paper from the retired Myths & Magic set and cut a small border to lay behind the Braided Linen Thread and to give it a little sparkle. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and it is finished off with 2 leaves from the Bird Ballad Trinkets. Overall a vast improvement and now I love the card. If I changed anything it would be to find a better suited glimmer paper, but I searched through my stash and found nothing better.

The last card of the day came together fairly quickly, since I decided to grunge the version above, I wanted to leave this version clean and classy. The background was embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. The Gold Glimmer Paper really helped this card along and it almost has a Christmas feel to it now. I incorporated a die cut from the Flourish Dies set and used the leftover scrap of vellum from the above card and it is finished with the Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon. Check out how Tracy did her card!

Digital Retreat August #3 - Very Versailles - #simplestamping

For the second card of the Very Versailles / #simplestamping project, we worked on the leaves creeping up. This card was inspired by this card. We loved the dark colors with the delicate background. One small problem, this was a #simplestamping project first and foremost, so we have to really eliminate some items.

~Enjoy!

We kept the balance of colors by choosing Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride and Basic Gray all stamped on Whisper White. This one is pretty much CASEd from the background of the inspiration card. and that is where we left it. I think it is very pretty for a #simplestamping card, but I just cannot leave well enough alone!

For the stepped up version, I first embossed the background with the Subtle Embossing Folder. Then I added the vellum leaves as Melissa did, but they just did not stand out enough for me so I decided to go with Silver Glimmer Paper and the Flourish Dies to get something more delicate and not very heavy. We added clear embossing to the background circle with the baroque frame from the set. It is topped off with a hand cut banner & the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set. I added some Silver Metallic Thread and topped it off with a Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon knot. The finishing touch is a few sequins from a retired sequin pack in what I think is Sweet Sugarplum. Make sure to check out Tracy's card over at Stuff n Thingz!

On My Mind Paper Pumpkin Alternative Meets Very Versailles

The medallions from the July 2019 On My Mind Paper Pumpkin really had a regal feel to me as well as the Very Versailles Stamp Set, so I decided the 2 should meet!

~Enjoy!

Once again I used this layout for some inspiration. The Early Espresso background is embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder. The medallions were stamped with Soft Suede on Crumb Cake. The focal element used the Very Versailles Stamp Set words and leaves stamped in Soft Suede on the Kraft card base included in the kit. The dies are cut from Crumb Cake & Gold Glimmer Paper cut with the Flourish Dies and sponged with Soft Suede. The sentiment is stamped with Pretty Peacock and Soft Suede using Very Versailles Stamp Set and run though my embossing machine with the Subtle Embossing Folder. A little strip of DSP from the envelope liner adds the right balance. The envelope had a little splatter made with Pretty Peacock and the Waterfront Stamp Set.

On My Mind Paper Pumpkin Alternative Cajun Craze Medallions

The layout I chose for one of the alternatives I made for the July 2019 On My Mind Paper Pumpkin kit I really loved, so decided to make it again in one of my favorite colors: Cajun Craze!

~Enjoy!

For the background I layered a piece of Cajun Craze stamped with the flourish from the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set and Cajun Craze. Layered over that is a piece of one of the Sahara Sand card bases. I stamped the medallion on Whisper White and alternated the colors between Terracotta Tile and Cajun Craze. The florals are cut with the In the Woods Dies, Butterfly Beauty Dies and Flourish Dies using Vellum, Cajun Craze, Terracotta Tile and some retired Copper Glimmer Paper from the Myths & Magic Paper Pack. The sentiment is cut with the Lakeside Dies and stamped with Terracotta Tile. The rope border is cut from the Smooth Sailing Dies and Soft Suede dipped in Soft Suede before cutting.

On My Mind Paper Pumpkin Alternative Peacock Medallions

The Pretty Peacock envelope liner from the July 2019 On My Mind Paper Pumpkin really inspired me and I started to repurpose favorite layouts.

~Enjoy!

For the background I layered a piece of DSP from the envelope liner and part of one of the card bases over a Whisper White card base. I was looking for a way to focus on the medallion stamp included in the kit and remembered a similar layout that I had done back in the spring. I stamped the medallion on Whisper White and stamped all medallions with Pretty Peacock, with the lighter ones being a second generation stamp (stamped a second time without reinking). The florals are cut with the In the Woods Dies, Butterfly Beauty Dies and Flourish Dies using Vellum, Pretty Peacock, Coastal Cabana and some retired Bermuda Bay Glimmer Paper from the Myths & Magic Paper Pack. The Coastal Cabana sprig is stamped in Coastal Cabana with the medallion to give it a little more interest. The sentiment is cut with the Lakeside Dies and the rope border is cut from the Smooth Sailing Dies and Soft Suede dipped in Soft Suede before cutting.
